Best jobs for pregnant women
Is there a best job for pregnant wonmen? Women are individuals, pregnant or not. What suits one may not suit another.
Firstly, most of us don`t start a job when already pregnant (though my sister did). The majority or women are already established in a job previous to becoming pregnant. Hopefully this is one of relative enjoyment and not one of complete tedium and boredom.
When a female discovers that she is pregnant it is an exciting time. It is also one of uncertainty in the early days, in case the pregnancy is not succesful. As a result of these feelings and a possible risk all through the early stages, a lot of women do not tell anyone until with the `danger period`. This of course means that most women, until three months or so, will really be continuing in their normal job lacking their boss being aware of their pregnancy.
As the pregnancy progresses, most women will still carry on in their job. Life doesn`t stop all through pregnancy. A pregnant female still has to go home and do housework. Most people manage to carry on as usual, maybe experiencing a bit of discomfort, nausea or tiredness. People do manage to cope.
Pregnant women need to have regular breaks. But, most jobs allow regular breaks anyway, so this should not be a problem. The other vital thing is, they need to be allowed time to attend ante-natal appointments. Most jobs that the pregnant female is already in could accomodate this.
Most pregnant women can carry on with their normal job. Hopefully the employer will be insightful to their needs and recognise if they are experiencing difficulties. If continuing to work as normal, there are several things to remember:-
Don`t place yourself at risk.
Don`t lift overly heavy objects.
Allow yourself regular breaks.
Don`t operate any machinery if your pregnancy hinders you in any way.
Talk to your employer, they may be able to help with any difficulties.
Keep regular appointments with your midwife.
Listen to your body.
I don`t reckon that there is a best job for pregnant women in general. The best kind of job is one in which the female is pleased working, whether pregnant or not. How the female feels all through pregnancy may dictate how long the female continues to work. Also certain jobs may be less suitable than others, if placing the pregnant female at more risk. I consider continuing in the usual job to be the best job. This helps the female to remain stable and familiar thus avoiding unnecessary stress.
